Don’t Feed the Bear

Kathleen Doherty

This story is about a hungry bear and a determined park ranger who get into a funny battle over food. The bear keeps sneaking into the campground to eat the campers’ snacks, and the ranger puts up a big sign that says “DON’T FEED THE BEAR!”

But the bear is clever—he makes his own signs saying “PLEASE FEED THE BEAR!” Soon the two are exchanging more and more silly signs, each trying to outsmart the other. The campers get confused, and chaos follows as both the ranger and the bear go to great lengths to win.

In the end, they realize that fighting over signs isn’t working. They come up with a solution that keeps the bear full and the campers safe, showing that cooperation is better than arguing.
